Pane Ora

Jed, Samu & Pietro

The Pane Ora team is made up of 2 surfers (both chefs by trade) and a skater (and excellent baker). We love the rhythms of working in the bakery as we can wake early to get the bread made before jumping in the ocean as the sun rises. As surfers and lovers of nature, we share a strong connection with the moana and the whenua of Aotearoa and New Zealand, and are often witnessing the effects humanity has on ao tūroa, our natural world. As lovers of food, we aspire to use our passion to join the kaitaki (guardians) of Aotearoa in creating a cleaner, more sustainable, and harmonious future.

I have been gluten free for fifteen years and I have finally found the perfect gluten free bread and pastries; They are the most delicious GF breads I've ever eaten and I've tried them all. It's obvious that the breads are hand crafted with passion and not full of all the nasties of supermarket product . The kids love them too

Pane Ora craft a range of delicious breads with the vibrance of Turmeric, the heartiness of hemp, the tang of sourdough or the gentle warm crunch of brioche, these gluten free plant-powered breads surpass dreams. Striking a delectable balance between soft fluffiness with some density, while toasting up a beautiful golden crunch, all that while holding their form, perfect with soup,  sandwiches, crostini or simply with sea  salt and olive oil.

This bread, in my opinion, is the best bread in it's category on the market today! I love Italian bread, but because of health reasons I am no longer able to eat it.  Gluten free sourdogh bread, when toasted, comes pretty close to crusty Italian bread. The hemp loaf is feels so healthy in my tummy. I make a very good bruschetta with it!.

It's the only organic bread which doesn't use any plastic packaging... Also, it is a little expensive but i guess the flours would be very expensive too and i personally love to invest in my own health...Love the bread!

Why Choose Us?

Kia ora koutou,

Our bakery is called Pane Ora, which is a combination of the Italian word Pane (which means bread) and Ora (which means good health in te reo Māori)

Bread for Good Health!

We do this by...Choosing quality 100% organic or spray free flours that encourage good farming practices such as hemp flour and buckwheat flour. We love those crops, when buckwheat is planted, phosphorus that is bound in the soil can be released and it also attracts beneficial insects to the area which is sown, including our old friend the bee, meaning high pollination. The greatest benefit of buckwheat to the end consumer, naturally, is its gluten free status and its ability to be substituted in everyday cooking for those who have sensitivities to wheat or other grains that contain gluten.

Hemp is resistant to many insects and diseases and absorbs nitrogen, encouraging clean and healthy waterways. Choosing health-giving and sustaining ingredients that are high in essential fatty acids omega 3, 6 and 9, fibre, and protein, such as chia or a great source of fibre like psyllium husk, flaxseed, brown rice flour, and tapioca. And most importantly, we make health delicious.

Pane Ora makes no compromises on taste.

Our approach is holistic, we want our customers to choose our bread not just because it's good for the planet and good for our bodies, but because it is all around... gooood. We would be honoured if we could create a positive impact on our planet for our present and future generations.

We are the kaitiaki of our own land and our choices will shape the way towards a more sustainable way of living..... and this would never happen without you and your support.

Thank you for choosing Pane Ora and thank you for giving your body the nourishment it deserves...
